A very dear friend guided me to one of the neurosurgeons (jera7at a3sab w dema’3) in order to consult and find out what is the best option for my cure, from my experience with doctors I utterly respected his opinion, he sounded reasonable and used one of the things I believe in “logic”. He advised me to save one of my treatment options to my worse days which i can use once alife – yes it can be worse – by saying: I know this guy who is 26 years old we have done a brain surgery to him, removed the biggest tumor, got tested, and found out he has “tsunami” along with another 30 tumors in his brain and his oncologist (dr. awram) is finding it as hopeless case (Allah Akbar), such patients we give treatment(X) -that he is trying to save it for me -and I don’t advise you to use it now, he said.
I asked how can I reach this guy- I believe I can help, F*** his oncologist is a dumb in my opinion -, he promised me to work it out.
Since I was blessed with “tsunami” that can move from one organ to another, this gave me the chance to experience almost most of the doctors domains – expect the baby doctor, I’m an adult :), and I have a list of the best if you need them I’ll be more than happy to grant - and by time I started to know and believe doctors are no biggy – they have the knowledge of course- but they try it on us, simply they analyze the symptoms – like if most of them can, huh –and act accordingly, if they failed – most of the time they do, or maybe not- they try again – a very noble work from them- however you can make a difference in decreasing their trails – which is better, than surrendering to them completely- .
First, study your case. You have the whole information on the internet – besides face booking, tweeting and wasting most of your health “brain cells” - keep some and learn about what you are going to be through.
Learn the terms they use, if you didn’t understand what a word means, simply ask nothing to be ashamed of and I will give this one a mole inshalah.
Again, no one knows your body more than you do share that with your doctor – inshalah a bad dream you had “just kidding”, share it.
By time, I promise you.. You will help your doctor to find out the best treatment plan for yourself. And this is exactly what is happening with me. First question they ask before (sho waja3ek?!)… (sho darseh?!), are you in the medical domain?, I laugh and reply no, I just know my case very well.
And always keep in mind, in every step you move forward there is a chance of fault (Scan results, biopsy (khoz3ah, mesh khoz :)) results, doctor decision, treatment option, even the treatment itself that is supposed to heal might be wrong). That’s fine, accept that just be aware of what you are going to be in.
As I’m saying this to you, and to myself - I’m keeping these moles for my worse days as well- (WALLAH) they are studying the option I gave to them for my treatment, and it can be an option "at least". And I’m proud that I can have the chance to heal myself for at least once.
Don’t be a dumb; help yourself before the doctor helps you.
Totally true, nobody knows your body better than you, and it is quite easy to get knowledge about your illness. A doctor is nothing more than a relatively medically skilled person, but nowhere near perfect especially when dealing with tricky medical conditions. The other thing, as much as I respect the health sector in Jordan, and my belief that we have a very good hospitals and medical staff compared to the rest of the Arab World, I still think that you will not get the doctor's complete attention and concern especially when we are talking about medical services in the public sector. Therefore, knowing your own condition and educating yourself about it becomes a necessity to bridge that gap of human error of judgment and less-than-excellent medical service.
ReplyDeleteYou are building up great experience and you are sharing this information with us. Thank you Ola.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, if you keep it up this way, may be you will be able to give public lectures to those who are in need of many answers that can not get from our Jordanian Doctors who do not give enough time to their patients. I agree with the comments of AmdRashdan. Sayf Muaz
I could not post my comment through using a profile. Thats why I selected Anonymous and wrote my name at the end of my comment above. How should I do it next time? Sayf Muaz
